Checking whether a physical item is genuine, using features or codes that counterfeiters cannot reproduce or reuse.

Product authentication, explained

Product authentication: Checking whether a physical item is genuine, using features or codes that counterfeiters cannot reproduce or reuse.

Authentication methods range from overt features people can see, such as holograms, to covert features and digital codes checked by a device or online service.

Digital authentication ties each unit to a record held by the brand, so a check can also detect copies, revoked batches and diversion, not just whether a feature is present.

How Satyakod handles it

Satyakod authenticates in a phone browser with no app: every scan runs four checks and returns Genuine, Suspicious or Counterfeit.
