Clone detection, explained
Clone detection: Spotting copies of a genuine code by finding the same unique serial scanned in places or times that cannot both be genuine.
Counterfeiters often photograph or reprint a real label. Every copy then carries a valid-looking code, so checking the code alone cannot tell the original from the copies.
Because a serialised code should exist on exactly one unit, scans of the same serial far apart within a short time reveal that the code has been copied.
How Satyakod handles it
Satyakod flags a clone when the same serial is scanned more than 200 km apart within six hours, and shows the pattern on a live map.
